Elena Tonra of Daughter is back as Ex:Re with one of the best singles I've heard in weeks. "Radio Station" is out first taste of the new record, and it's a dreamy delight.
Over a hook that sounds like Radiohead's "Pyramid Song" transposed to guitar, the song draws us in. The whole thing has a lumbering momentum that is transfixing, with Elena's voice holding things together with ease. Her delivery is laidback, easy, and enticing, and the whole thing sort of slouches forward even as something uneasy lurks in the grooves. It's a marvelous track and I can't wait to hear the whole record in October on 4AD.
