I've raved about a lot of the bands these guys have been in. When they were known as Ablebody, Anton and Christoph Hochheim got the most praise from me. Those records were just perfect synth-pop. That band has morphed into Always You and the first taste of the duo's new record is this week's clear Track of the Week.
Sounding a little like Pet Shop Boys mixed with "If You Leave"-era O.M.D., "Against the World" is elegant, sleek, and a little heartfelt. The synths serve the tune which sort of glides forward too quickly. It makes perfect sense that Gary Daly of China Crisis will be singing on the new Always You album as this duo certainly deserves comparisons to that one. This is great stuff. I can't wait to hear the full album in November.
