Ty Segall never runs out of juice does he? With fairly consistent results, the guy's back with a new record. Chrome rocks, yeah, so that's one question answered already.
While opener "Hospital" is a little unwieldly, the fuzzy "Running to Nowhere" is superb. That this sounds a tiny bit like early Supergrass is even more of a plus. Elsewhere, "Black Paint" is more lyrical but no less a rocker. Segall throws everything in on the title cut, a lengthy, machine-like number that seems to sound like everything good Ty's done in the past wrapped into one song.
With help from Mikal Cronin and Emmett Kelly (The Cairo Gang, The Hard Quartet), Ty Segall brings his A-game to this record. Chrome is concise and to the point. Segall's not changing styles or anything, but he does this so well that it's impossible not to bob your head along with the crunchy riffs that are laid down here. Recommended highly.
