It's been a bit since we last heard from European Sun but the band's back with a new single, and news of a new record in January on Skep Wax.
Joined by Rob Pursey (Heavenly, Swansea Sound) on bass, Ian Button (Swansea Sound) on drums, and Elin Miles on backing vocals, Simon Miles serves up in "When Britain Was Great" a rueful look back at British history, and promises made. This song is a wry missive, one which imagines the Britain that was promised to its citizens, and one that never came to be. This is smartly done, and very much in the spirit of Billy Bragg, and Luke Haines too.
The new European Sun album, also called When Britain Was Great, will be out on Skep Wax in January. Before that, and speaking of Rob Pursey and Ian Button, Swansea Sound are putting out a Christmas mini-album very soon. Details on that here.
