"This Train" sounds like a demo for Fables of the Reconstruction. A listener can hear this and imagine it sitting nicely next to "Driver 8" or something. It also echoes the best early material from West Coast greats Wire Train. And if you hear a hint of British post-punk here, that's probably a good thing too. Fans of current site faves The Laughing Chimes should find something to love here too.
Vocalist and guitarist Wallace Dietz was kind enough to provide some background on "This Train":
"I fell in love with this song when I heard Dan-O's guitar lines cascading through the extended introduction. It's the same rush I experience when I listen to bands like Felt. Best of all, the haunting melody line matches the wistfulness of the vocals. The world doesn't need another song that mentions trains but I fool myself into thinking I can get away with it because I frequently hopped freight trains up and down the East coast in my twenties."
"This Train" is out now. Play it below. The Melody Chamber by The Melody Chamber is out in November via HHBTM Records. Check out the HHBTM Bandcamp too.
