This is a lovely track that I want to make sure doesn't slip through the cracks. Detective Larsson, essentially a duo, make folk-flavored tunes out of Rhondda Valley, Wales, and it's music that is well worth your time this week.
"Wandirin' is the A-side of their new digital single and it's centered around Amanda Larsson's beautiful vocals. Guitar from Amanda embellishes the track, with smart synth choices from Neil Jones, and mandolin touches by Nigel Hobbins. The instrumentation is precise, and Amanda's voice given space to shine. And while her vocals are stunning, recalling Mary Hopkin, and Enya when she was in Clannad, the arrangement of this is simple and subtle. The Lerner/Loewe cover on the flip is another reason to check this out. Highly recommended.
