The Cords channel the energies of The Primitives here on this new single. The comparison is inescapable, but it's a well-deserved one. The duo from Scotland -- Eva and Grace Tedeschi -- are making indie every bit as good as that of bands from the Eighties and Nineties.
"I'm Not Sad" is catchy as heck, with great harmonies, and a ringing hook. What is not to love? I mean, I'm still sort of amazed at how perfect the pop of The Cords is, but God bless them for making music like this. There's more like this to be heard on the self-titled debut album. But until that's out, dig this new single! Play it loud, and often!
In the US, the debut album from The Cords will be out in late September on Slumberland Records. In the UK, it will be out on Skep Wax.
