Anger In Shadow: A Quick Review Of The New Album From Primitive Impulse

Who knew such venom was lurking in the bowels of Cincinnati? Primitive Impulse are here to rip your heads off with speedy riffs, growling vocals, and a desire to obliterate anything in their path. I'd say that 13 songs in 18 minutes can be a model for maximum impact.

Numbers like "Anger in Shadow" and "Piss it Away", the title cut, barrel ahead. Steamrolling riffs batter a listener, and vocals from Thaddeus place this in line with stuff from past pioneers like very early Slayer or Venom. This is material that's hard, fast, and heavy. There's not a lot of time for solos here, and I dig that. The superbly-titled "Hunted by Pigs" is unrelenting, giving maximum power over to riffs for 44 glorious seconds. Its energy is malevolent force and fans of old stuff like Napalam Death, Poison Idea, and even Void may find this appealing.

Piss It Away by Primitive Impulse is out now via Feel It Records. Details below.
