The Cords have generated a lot of attention already and their first album isn't even out yet. The sisters from Scotland -- Eva and Grace Tedeschi -- mine a vein of indie here that should earn comparisons to Heavenly, The Pastels, The Vaselines, and so on. Every cut they've released so far has been really great, and perhaps none more so than "Fabulist", their latest.
Chiming guitars, a simple beat, and a lot of energy give this number real charm. It really reminds me of Lazy-era Primitives, though others will reach for other points of comparison. With a full-length record due in a few months, all eyes are on The Cords, and our ears will be rewarded with more music just like this in the near future.
In the US, the debut album from The Cords will be out in late September on Slumberland Records. In the UK, it will be out on Skep Wax.
