BONUS TRACK OF THE WEEK: "Did You Hear?" By Tchotchke

Tchotchke are one of the best live bands I've seen in years. If the in-person attack wasn't enough, they've released a ton of music which to me recalls Jellyfish. And that makes some kind of sense since that band had a singing drummer and so does this one.

Anastasia Sanchez (drums, vocals), Eva Chambers (bass, vocals), and Emily Tooraen (guitar, vocals) offer up their first new piece of music of 2025. "Did You Hear?" is catchy as heck. There's a Brian May-y guitar-line carrying this to the skies, while Anastasia's vocals are as sweet as honey. Add in backing from Eva and Emily, an anchoring bass and keyboards from Eva, and you've got three musicians making an absolute epic bit of power pop. If that's not enough for you, be aware that The Lemon Twigs produced this.

Tchotchke understand what makes a great single, and "Did You Hear?" is a great one. This hits the sweet spot that brings to mind countless singles from Seventies-era Sparks, Nineties mainstays Jellyfish and Silver Sun, and contemporaries The Lemon Twigs. I surely hope that a new album from Tchotchke is coming in 2025. Fingers crossed, fans.
