What a nice surprise this is! The Catburgers formed in Edinburgh in 1985. Inspired by a Television Personalities concert, the group almost recorded for Dan Treacy's label. That never happened, the band split, and these tunes never came out until now. But this is really great stuff.
The jangle-pop charms of "I've Got a Friend" are many. The tune rushes like something from the C86 tape, and seems in line with early signees to the Creation Records imprint. It's the first taste of the upcoming collection on Slumberland Records. And with these archival recordings mixed by Archie Moore (Black Tambourine, Velocity Girl, Bye!), this set is sure to be something worth pre-ordering now as it's gonna be great. For now, play this brief burst of musical sunshine a bunch of times and get ready for more.
