London trio Deary have been on our radar here for a bit. The news that they are prepping a debut full-length LP for Bella Union is fantastic to hear. As is their new single.
"Seabird" leans hard into a sound that's going to get a lot of Cocteau Twins and Chapterhouse comparisons thrown Deary's way. So be it. This a shimmering slice of dream-pop no matter how you talk about it. Rebecca "Dottie" Cockram (guitar, vocals), Ben Easton (guitar) and Harry Catchpole (drums) bring a lot of energy to this kind of music, and while it's familiar, it's also wonderful.
"Seabird" by Deary is out now. Birding will be out on April 3 via Bella Union.
